Red Fish curry (Kottayam Style )



Ingredients :
  1. Fish - 500 gm
  2. Pearl Onions : 6-8
  3. Green Chilly-3 slit
  4. Ginger  : medium size piece (finely minced)
  5. Garlic : 8 cloves ( finely minced)
  6. Tomato- 1 small
  7. Kudampuli : 2-3 
  8. Coconut Oil : 2-3 tbsp
  9. Fenugreek seeds : 1/4 tsp
  10. Curry leaves : 2 sprig
  11. Turmeric Powder : 1/4 tsp
  12. Red Chilli Powder : 1 tbsp 
  13. Coriander powder : 1 tsp
  14. Salt to taste
  15. Water 

Method:

  • Soak the kudampuli in half cup of water for 5-10 minutes
  • Crush pearl onions.
  • Heat coconut oil in a pan ,add fenugreek seeds and after that add the crushed onions,green chilly and curry leaves
  • Saute well.
  • Add ginger and garlic and saute well 
  • After sauteing add all the powders and combine altogether.
  • Add some water,salt and kudampuli
  • When the gravy starts boiling add the fish pieces.
  • Cover and cook
  • Tomatoes are added only when the fishpieces are cooked about 50%
  • Again cover and cook
  • After switch off the flame, drizzle few drops of oil , curry leaves and  cover the pot tightly

Ready!!!!!Serve!!!!!!!Enjoy!!!!(goes well with rice and especially with kappa)
