Mathi Mulakittathu


Ingredients :

  1. Sardines / Mathi - 4-5 pieces
  2. Pearl Onions - 3-4
  3. Ginger - a medium piece
  4. Green Chilly - 2
  5. Curry Leaves - 2 springs
  6. Tomato - 1 small(optional)
  7. Red Chilly Powder : 1 tsp
  8. Turmeric Powder - 1/4 tsp
  9. Kudampuli - 2 small pieces
  10. Salt
  11. Fenugreek Seeds / Uluva : 1/2 tsp
  12. Coconut Oil
  13. Water

Method :

  • Heat Oil in an earthen pot(manchatti).
  • Splutter fenugreek seeds followed by pearl onions, crushed ginger ,slitted green chillies and curry leaves.
  • Saute well.
  • Now add the powders and saute till the raw smell goes.
  • Add half cup water and when it boils add salt, kudampuli and fish pieces.
  • Cover and Cook until the gravy reduces to its half.
  • Drizzle few drops of oil and 2-3 curry leaves.


The Curry is ready

Serve with hot rice and Moru Curry
